I keep repeating that we must always apply heat protectant before heat styling the hair. I get many requests to recommend the best products. Well, I tried many of them. I’m a real hair-care buff. Today I’m sharing 5 best heat protection products for hair. Keep reading. <3
First, I recommend getting a quality curling wand or flat iron which has heat control. The most modern devices are made so as not to cause damage to hair, but they’re also costly. That’s why I think getting a heat protectant is the best idea – a budget-friendly solution which saves us from heat-damaged hair.
How do I use my heat protectant spray?
I use it every time I do my hair using a curler or flat-iron. I smooth it across the lengths, avoiding the scalp. I put the products in dry or wet hair; most cosmetics come with directions for use.
5 Best Hair Products for Thermal Protection
1st place: NANOIL HEAT PROTECTANT SPRAY
This is the heat protectant with the biggest number of positive reviews – that’s what I saw while browsing through the Internet. I knew why as soon as I used it myself. First I need to mention the scent – it’s wonderful and I feel as if I used some perfume on my hair! When it comes to the ingredients, it’s based on hydrolyzed silk which fills gaps in the cuticle layer and ensures a protective filter. On top of that, Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray always leaves my hair super smooth and glossy – the effect lasts for many hours! It’s a powerful heat protectant because it guards from extreme temperatures (up to 430 degrees). Tbh, I use it even when I don’t heat-style, just to tame the frizzy strands. Another great thing is I use it often and still have lots of product left. It’s easy to use and sinks in super fast. And there’s a terrific bonus: it has a really good price!

place: BUMBLE AND BUMBLE HAIRDRESSER’S INVISIBLE OIL HEAT/UV PROTECTIVE PRIMER
Tbh, I didn’t know this brand before. I decided to try this spray encouraged by positive reviews on social media. It has an okay price and there are two sizes to choose from: 50 ml and 250 ml. I picked the mini version because I didn’t know what to expect. The beautiful sweet-looking bottle and flowery scent were the first things I noticed. I love it that the aroma stays on my hair. Bumble And Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/Uv Protective Primer contains 6 vegetable oils, among others, macadamia nut oil, jojoba oil and almond oil. My hair loves this oil-rich formula but I’ve read it may cause greasy strands. It’s a good protective shield against heat from a dryer or hot styling tools as well as the sun. This small-size bottle has a place in my beach bag.
3rd place: OUAI HEAT PROTECTION SPRAY
Ouai is a brand which always uses good ingredients. Don’t let the long INCI list scare you away! Most of the components in this spray are beneficial, including oils and extracts from wild rose, Barbary fig, chamomile, melissa… let me stop here, you can check the full list on the Internet. What about the effects? Ouai’s spray works great! Apart from the obvious – protecting against heat – it is a terrific defrizzing product keeping the hair smooth for many hours. It makes the curls last too – I checked that. The product comes in a minimalist silver bottle. I don’t like applying it, though. It’s hard to work out the good amount, and the applicator doesn’t run smoothly, I ran out of the product quickly. It’s small – only 126g – and costs as much as the bigger-size sprays in my round-up.
Above I presented my top three products but I want to share two more which are also worth listing. They aren’t the best choices but you can consider trying them, especially as an addition to your hair care routine.
KERASTASE CHRONOLOGISTE THERMIQUE
Some of you asked me to review the product from Kerastase. Even though it isn’t a spray, I decided to include it in my reviews. This cream protects the hair from high temperatures and does its job well. It builds a coating which shields against heat. Additionally, you can count on moisturizing and defrizzing effects. Too bad it tends to overload my hair, sometimes leaving it greasy. It’s cream so it’s harder to get the optimal amount. After some time I learnt to use the right dose but I just need to warn you. I wish it was in the form of a spray. Maybe the brand will consider it, who knows. It’s not a bad product but the application takes more time so it’s not a time-saving option.
DAVINES HAIRCARE MELU HAIR SHIELD
This hair mist comes in a simple bottle which is characteristic for Davines. I really like the eco-friendly approach. It has an extra benefit: we can see how much product is left! The 250-ml bottle lasted me really long. It’s another product with an amazing scent. Apart from protection from heat, it slightly moisturizes the hair. To be honest, I used it as an extra product to make the hair smell nice. The manufacturer recommends it for long, damaged hair but it worked well on my hair too. A high price is a turn-off.
That’s all I got for you today. Please let me know which product is your favorite.
Till next time! <3
