Mineral cosmetics stripped down! Kinds, properties and application

Recently I’ve become interested in mineral makeup cosmetics. There are few reasons why I found them awesome. What effect do I create with them? Which products in particular do I apply? Who can benefit from using mineral color cosmetics? How to apply them correctly?

What mineral makeup is?

Mineral cosmetics are really gentle products destined to do face makeup with. They are made from natural ingredients, which are pigments and minerals (iron oxides, zinc, titanium, mica). Such products are recommended not only to people with sensitive skin but also to pretty everyone. Basically, mineral cosmetics are safe for skin, don’t trigger irritations or clog skin pores. They help you take care of face skin and prevent various skin problems such as acne, discolorations, excess sebum – to name just a few.

Mineral cosmetics: Types and formula

Our cosmetic industry offers us a truly wide range of mineral cosmetics so we can pick and choose freely. However, in most cases you can come across: powders, concealers, foundations, bronzes, eye shadows, eyebrow waxes, and blushers. As I mentioned it earlier, you won’t find there any synthetic substances such as parabens, silicones, colorants or aromas in mineral cosmetics. What such makeup products contain instead are:

  • zinc oxide – natural UV filter,
  • titanium dioxide – natural UV filter,
  • mica – provides healthy glow to skin,
  • kaolin – white clay that is able to reduce skin pores and absorbs excess sebum,
  • iron oxide – natural pigment.

What are the benefits of using mineral makeup products?

Mineral cosmetics allow you to feel fresh, light and natural, and by saying that I mean that mineral makeup you wear is almost insensible. Apart from that, such products:

  • give you sun protection;
  • are incredibly efficient;
  • don’t have any expiry date;
  • reduce discolorations;
  • don’t dust anything while being applied;
  • are recommended to everyone no matter their skin type.

Last but not least, mineral cosmetics create a protective coat on skin’s surface. This deals with water loss, which means that mineral cosmetics prevent skin dehydration.
