Any swimming pool fans out there? If you’re a swim freak, you might already know how to protect the hair against chlorine in water. If not, sit back, read on and discover practical ways to protect your hairdo against the destructive effect of pool water.
Swim cap
Above all other things, a cap is there to help you save the hair so put it on! Obviously, you need to match the right size, try it on and make sure it fits, and always tuck all strands in. What’s more, some pools don’t allow for swimming without a cap. One more thing, don’t use lycra swim caps. Even though they are softer, more flattering and easier to wear, silicone caps are better since they are waterproof and airtight.
Hair oil treatment
Not only is it a brilliant way for protecting the hair against chlorine in water but also it has an amazing conditioning effect. You can apply hair oils before or after your swim practice. Oils work amazing for guarding the hair, especially the ends. Just remember to pick a hair oil which is right for your hair porosity, and never apply too much.
Hair mask & conditioner
Before putting on a swim cap, smooth a hair mask or conditioner over the hair. It takes very little time and lets you save tresses from chlorine. After coming back home, shampoo the hair and apply some mask or conditioner again.
Hair oils & leave-in conditioners
These cosmetics make a great pick before plunging in or right after a hair blowout. Always make sure you apply them thoroughly and never skip a single hair. When you blow the hair dry, hair oils and leave-in products make detangling easier and deliver anti-heat damage protection, plus tame unruly flyaways if you happen to have them.
